My motto, Mindful Expression, is a combination of two areas of my life that I am passionate about, mindfulness and creativity. Mindfulness, in a simplistic form, is a non-judgmental awareness of the present moment. Creativity is a beautiful aspect of humanity and one that, when expressed, develops human connection in one of the purest forms. Photography is, for me, an example of a mindful practice due to the focus necessary to develop the right exposure. In social work we talk about the importance of self-care and incorporating mindfulness into my photography is one of the best ways that I practice self-care. Mindful expression is a theoretical lens through which I see the world and the foundation of my photographic discipline.
